What did you resolve to do in 2018?

Jan 01, 2018

According to www.statisticbrain.com around 40% of Americans usually make a New Year’s Resolution. The most common resolutions probably won’t surprise you. Number one is to lose weight/eat healthier and number two is to make some life/self-improvements. How many people actually keep their resolutions? Less than 10%.

The key to keeping your commitment may be simple. Dr. Michael Steinberg of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School said in a USA Today article that there is scientific evidence to support the idea that you are more likely to stick to your behavior change if it is moderate and takes place over time instead of drastic. For example, commit to working out for 30 minutes a few times a week rather than going to the gym every day, and don’t beat yourself up if you don’t stick strictly to the plan.

That’s why carpooling just one to two days per week might be right for you. You can enjoy the benefits of sharing the ride to work without giving up your car every day. Carpooling occasionally can give you flexibility and still have a big impact on your pocketbook. The third most popular resolution? Making better financial decisions. Carpoolers save money by sharing the cost of the commute and reducing wear and tear on their vehicle.

So even if you didn’t make a resolution, it’s never too late to make a change. Just a small one can make a big difference. Visit www.transactionassoc.com to see how our Commuter Services Programs can help you plan a better commute.
